THE DISTRICT North Point façade in Bacolod

The relaxed and laid-back city of Bacolod has become more exciting with the new development of North Point, the latest residential and commercial property project of Ayala Land in Negros Occidental. Property giant ALI has four residential brands in the development: Premier for the luxury market, Plantazionne and Asyana Verdana Homes for the high-end market, Avida for the mid-market and Amaia for the affordable market.

The North Point shopping and malling development is called The District, and is found in Talisay City, immediately north of Bacolod. The District North Point is a shopping center situated within a 215-hectare, fully integrated, masterplanned community in Negros, consisting of residential homes, a school, and business and recreational facilities.

A verdant landscape, accented by a Corte or a garden area, surrounds the two retail buildings, providing a relaxing vibe to the entire shopping experience. The first building is a one-level facility that will be connected to the anchor, Metro Department Store & Supermarket. The second building has two levels that will feature an array of select retail and service concepts.

Dining establishments

A delightful mix of dining establishments are lined up facing the Corte, providing an al-fresco dining experience that blends harmoniously with the lush landscaping.

The District will be home to more than 100 stores, featuring an assortment of all-time, local and foreign, favorite retail brands. Negrense favorites such as Bob’s, Chicken Deli, Felicia’s, L’Sea, Calea and Terrase Bistro have also found home in this retail development.

The opening of the mall coincided with the opening of 60 percent of the retail shops. Metro Department Store head Margaret Ang was among the VIP guests who graced the successful celebration. With this latest development by Ayala Land, The District North Point is sure to bring convenience and comfort to Talisay City’s newest community hub.

Creatively designed products

Bacolod has a treasure of creatively designed products that are displayed at The Showroom, with several floors of furniture, artworks and home furnishings. Unique pieces and interesting light fixtures are also available.

One of the most talented artists living in Bacolod is Charlie Co. He is a gifted artist, sculpture and painter who uses brilliant colors and images to capture the whimsical aspect of life.

The artist’s spacious studio is just a few blocks away from The District North Point. His latest giant sculptures called “Blue Men in Black Suits” are in his studio along with enormous artworks in oil.

Charlie, along with Secret Fresh Gallery, launched his second artist collectible, “Ai Weiwei,” early this year at the Secret Fresh’s booth during the Art Fair Philippines. Based from his 2012 oil on canvas painting, “Comrade Ai Weiwei in the Year of the Dragon,” the Ai Weiwei toy, made of resin, had a limited edition of 30 pieces with five pieces hand-painted by Charlie himself.
