Fulfilled dreams, improved lives in Philippines

A leading global developer and manufacturer of high-quality health and nutrition products honored its Filipino distributors who performed well (and earned incentives) during the past year at a daylong celebration held in the Mall of Asia Arena.

Usana Health Sciences capped the month of February with the grand celebration for its Filipino leaders and distributors.

The February fete was the first of four celebrations the firm holds for the year. It gathered 7,540 distributors, a considerable portion of the estimated 10,000 from all over the country.

The attendees donned their best barongs, suits and gowns and showed off their own group colors. Team chants in sync with drumbeats reverberated throughout the Arena.

Famed hip-hop dance group, The Philippines All-Stars, performed before the attendees.

Gracing the special occasion were two key global company officers: Usana president of the Americas, Europe and South Pacific Kevin Guest and Usana VP for the Pacific Region David Mulham.

Mulham said: “This is the biggest event that we run [every year]. It’s an opportunity to recognize the people who have been successful, as well as their different experiences.”

Usana has been in the country for just four short years. Guest briefly touched on what transpired during when Usana finally came to the Philippines. He reminisced: “I’ve been to almost all of our country openings, and what was different in the Philippines than most of the other markets is that there were a lot of people just waiting for Usana to come [in]. They already know about [us], and many of them said ‘Oh, we’ve been waiting for you to come here!’”

Both Guest and Mulham mentioned the significance of having the right people in the Usana family, and its role in working with the existing culture and creating a sense of community.

Mulham said: “The key is to have the best people. We have specialists who know the market very well, and know the industry. Trying to bring people from outside the country… you cannot bring a culture [with you]. It needs to develop and grow on its own. So the Filipino Usana culture… even though it’s based on (founder and renowned scientist) Dr. Wentz’s vision, is something that has been created by the staff, the leaders, the founding members of the business.”
