Russia to pursue trade with Asean

MANILA, Philippines—Russia has expressed a keen interest in the areas of transport, energy, information technologies, tourism and public-private partnership investment fund, once the Asean Economic Community is fully established, said Lim Hong Hin, deputy secretary general of Asean.

According to Alexey Likhachev, deputy minister of economic development of the Russian Federation, Russia is committed to continue working closely with the Asean, especially now that the region is on the verge of integration.

Russia has ongoing collaborations with relevant Asean sectoral bodies (e.g., energy, transport, tourism), pursuing areas of mutual interests (e.g., e-commerce, pharmaceuticals) and promoting dialogue among the business communities.

Likhachev also pointed out the importance of expediting the implementation of the Asean-Russia Trade and Investment Cooperation Work Program by prioritizing deliverables for implementation each year.
