Emirates says ‘hello Twitter’

MANILA, Philippines—Emirates, a global connector of people and places, launches two Twitter accounts to better engage with customers on the popular social media platform Wednesday.

Twitter users can now stay up-to-date with the airline’s latest activities by searching and following @Emirates. Meanwhile, customers can reach Emirates’ online support team through @EmiratesSupport for solutions to issues and to keep track of any operations updates.

“We look forward to reaching out to our customers in real-time. Through these channels, we’ll be broadcasting the latest news, exclusive offers and even competitions that fans can take part in,” said Valerie Tan, Emirates Airline Vice President for PR, social media and communications.

Globalistas can now keep in touch with everything to do with Emirates through @Emirates. This channel will also serve as the go-to site for breaking news about the airline. Through this Twitter handle, Emirates’ online customer service team will only communicate in English, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, Dubai time (GST).

Emirates passengers can also communicate issues and keep track of operational updates through @EmiratesSupport, the airline’s dedicated customer support Twitter account. “Our customer service team will be online every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. GST to respond to queries. The channel will initially communicate in English only,” Tan said.

The airline’s existing social media sites – Facebook, YouTube, Google+, LinkedIn and Instagram – has grown to reach more than four million fans in two years.
