Tokyo stocks close up 0.25 percent

TOKYO– Tokyo shares ended 0.25 percent higher in quiet trade on Friday as dealers picked up bargains after the previous day’s losses but with a lack of strong incentives to drive activity.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 23.02 points to 9,110.00 while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.34 percent or 2.57 points at 756.38.

Shares in Japan Airlines closed down 4.29 percent at 3,680 yen, two days after it relisted, as it said it was slashing flights to China owing to a bitter territorial row between Beijing and Tokyo.
