MANILA, Philippines—ABS-CBN Corp. continued to dominate nationwide ratings, with its average audience share reaching 43 percent nationwide on total-day viewership in August—12 points higher than rival GMA Network’s 31 percent, the most recent survey by Kantar Media showed.

In a statement, the Lopez-led television network said it registered its highest audience share of 73 percent in Legazpi City in Bicol, giving it a 60-point lead over GMA’s 13 percent. Similarly, ABS-CBN also secured a 72-percent audience share in Iloilo, higher by 58 points than GMA’s 14 percent.

“ABS-CBN maintained its dominance in these regions because of good content, improved signal, and local programming. Viewers appreciate our local productions which include local newscasts, morning programs, game shows, and local public service programs apart from our top-caliber TV offerings,” ABS-CBN Regional Network Group (RNG) head Louis Benedict Bennett said.

In Luzon, ABS-CBN won in the province of Batangas and in Naga City, also in Bicol, with a majority of local residents watching its programs. ABS-CBN led in Batangas with 69-percent audience share against GMA’s 17 percent and topped all TV stations in Naga with a 69-percent audience share versus GMA’s 13 percent.

ABS-CBN registered impressive ratings at its newest station in Palawan, earning a 67 percent audience share, or higher by 50 points than GMA’s 17 percent.

The trend was repeated in Mindanao, where ABS-CBN dominated Davao with a 68-percent audience share against TV5’s 12 percent and GMA’s 9 percent.

ABS-CBN remained the market leader in Cagayan de Oro where its audience share hit 58 percent against TV5’s 20 percent and GMA’s 12 percent. ABS-CBN also ruled General Santos City with an audience share of 51 percent against TV5’s 28 percent and GMA’s 12 percent.
