MANILA, Philippines–Amid strong demand in the international market, oil companies hiked the price of gasoline on Tuesday.
Starting 6 a.m., Pilipinas Shell, Petron, Phoenix Petroleum and Total implemented a price hike of 30 centavos per liter for gasoline. However, they lowered their price for diesel by 10 centavos per liter.
Shell and Petrom also decreased their price for kerosene by 20 centavos and 10 centavos per liter, respectively.
Prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), meanwhile, are expected to rise this month.
Already, Petron adjusted household LPG prices (Gasul) up by 15 centavos per kilogram and autoLPG up by 8 centavos. The hike took effect Monday.
Isla LPG and Eastern Petroleum said they did not see much difference in their contract prices for June and were maintaining the prices of Solane and EC Gas, respectively.
Total has yet to announce price adjustments for June.–Riza T. Olchondra
