Cop shoots man dead for preventing him from molesting woman

By

CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Philippines – A policeman assigned to a regional police training center was charged with murder for shooting to death a man who stopped him from molesting a woman on a bus in Laguna late Friday Afternoon.

The suspect, Police Officer 3 Generoso Falconit, apparently resented that Leonilo Banaag, a fellow passenger on a bus bound for Sta. Cruz, Laguna, asked him to stop pestering and touching the female passenger seated beside them, said Superintendent Leovegildo Manaig, Calamba City police chief.

Manaig said Falconit drew his gun and shot Banaag four times in the chest before getting off the bus and taking a jeepney to Barangay (village) Paciano in Calamba City.

Banaag died shortly after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The other passengers identified Falconit, who turned out to be a policeman assigned to the Philippine National Police Training Institute in Camp Vicente Lim, also in Calamba City.

Manaig said Falconit was arrested inside the police training facility just hours after the incident, which took place around 5 p.m.
