The Bureau of the Treasury’s newly launched 25-year global bond issue was swamped by foreign lenders within hours of the announcement on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, according to Daily Inquirer sources.

MANILA, Philippines—Finance Undersecretary Rosalia de Leon took her oath Friday as the new treasurer of the Philippines.

De Leon succeeds Roberto B. Tan, who is now an executive director in the World Bank Group.

Throughout the previous two years, she handled the Department of Finance’s International Finance Group (IFG), helping formulate the government’s debt financing strategies, particularly with overseas funding sources.

Assistant Secretary Maria Edita Z. Tan, who has been with the IFG’s international finance operations since 1992, takes over the portfolio as officer-in-charge.
