PH gov’t has ‘fiscal space’ to counter global economic challenges

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine government, given its lower budget deficit and declining debt ratio, has the “fiscal space” or flexibility to spend more to boost growth in case dampening effects of global economic problems become more pronounced, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima said during the Philippine economic team’s briefing at the Philippine International Convention Center on Monday.
