Eaton sets up 2nd PH manufacturing facility

Eaton Corp.Plc, a power management firm headquartered in Dublin, has set up a new manufacturing facility in the Philippines, which is considered a key emerging market in Southeast Asia.

In a statement, Eaton said this 29,000 square-meter facility in Tanauan, Batangas, which will generate up to 2,000 jobs by 2017, would help the company achieve its goal to further expand its operations in Asia Pacific.

This will be second manufacturing facility of Eaton in the Philippines.

Alexander M. Cutler, chair and chief executive officer of Eaton, noted that the company’s global growth strategy was focused on continued investment in emerging, high growth markets and regions.

The move to set up a new a facility here thus underscored “our long-term commitment to the Asia Pacific region, which has been a major growth market for Eaton and continues to be of great strategic importance.”

“With the increased manufacturing capabilities in the Philippines, we will be able to continue Eaton’s expansion into emerging markets with cost-competitive products,” added Ivo Jurek, president of Eaton’s electrical business in Asia Pacific.

“Our investment in the Philippines is a strategic pillar that demonstrates our commitment to building our electrical business in Asean (Association of South East Asian Nations) and the East Asia region. We are investing heavily in expanding our electrical business in the market to meet our growth goals,” Jurek said.

The new Batangas facility, according to Eaton, will manufacture electrical power management products such as uninterruptable power supply (UPS) products for global markets.

It will serve both the regional and global customers in the IT industry, as well as the small and medium data center markets.

Eaton set up its first Philippine manufacturing facility in 2012 to produce electronics products for global markets. With the new plant, Eaton will have more than 1,200 employees in the Philippines.

Eaton is considered a global leader with expertise in power distribution and circuit protection; backup power protection; control and automation; lighting and security; structural solutions and wiring devices; solutions for harsh and hazardous environments; and engineering services.
