Peso slightly recovers from 7-day slump, now at P44.46 to $1

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine peso ended, on Wednesday, a seven-day decline, gaining six centavos against the US dollar to close at P44.46:$1 from P44.52:$1 last Tuesday.


The peso breached the P44:$1 level two weeks ago, bringing the local currency to its weakest since early May.


At the Philippine Dealing System, the peso reached an intraday high of P44.44:$1 and a low of P44.57:$1.


The total volume traded was worth $656.6 million, down from Tuesday’s $666.2 million.
