#ChickenSad? KFC, Jollibee fight the chicken war

MANILA, Philippines—And the chicken derby began.

In a tweet, @KFCPhilippines said: “No such thing as #ChickenSad in the house of #SoGood.”

KFC could be taking a swipe at Jollibee Foods Corp., which announced Thursday that a number of its branches in Metro Manila and in surrounding cities “are currently operating on a limited menu.”

The #ChickenSad hashtag became a trending topic on Twitter.

But Harvey Ong, Jollibee vice president for marketing, said Jollibee’s stock shortage was only temporary.

“We are committed to having all our products – including Chickenjoy, Jolly Spaghetti and Yumburgers – available again in all our affected stores soonest,” he said.
