Peso hits new low Thursday

MANILA, Philippines—The local currency closed Thursday at 45.30-to-$1, losing 10 centavos from 45.20: $1 the day before.


The peso’s close was its lowest since August 2010. The peso was weaker throughout the trading session, reaching an intraday high of 45.21: $1 after opening at 45.24. The peso closed at its intra-day low.


Trading declined with just $785 million in transactions from Wednesday’s volume of $1.01 billion.—Paolo G. Montecillo
