US stocks score modest gains






NEW YORK—US stocks notched up modest gains Wednesday after a mixed batch of economic data and another eurozone failure to agree on a crucial aid payment for Greece.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 48.77 points (0.38 percent) at 12,837.28 in closing trade.


The broad-market S&P 500 index added 3.20 (0.23 percent) at 1,391.01, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 9.87 (0.34 percent) at 2,926.55.
